Sookie - the Maine Coon cat

This is Sookie, the latest addition to our family! After the tragic death of our calico cat Abbey (also a rescue cat), my husband and I decided to adopt again. Sookie is 6 years old, and was in desperate need of a loving home. She had been rescued from a house containing over 60 other cats, all in poor health. Sookie was one of the last remaining cats needing a home. Just like her namesake, Sookie is the most affectionate and motherly cat I have ever known. She has settled in beautifully with us, and has even taken to grooming and playing with my 6 month old daughter. This portrait is in charcoal.

Abbey

A few months ago our beloved cat Abbey tragically passed away. She was only 2 years old, but contracted a very rare but deadly disease called F.I.P.
This portrait is in loving memory of our dear cat - who will dearly be missed.

Mermaid

Another scribbler piece, yes – I’m a little addicted! I thought that this little mermaid looked rather lonely, like she has been waiting for something, or maybe someone for a very long time…

Scribbles

After discovering the amazing online drawing program, Scribbler I have been very busy doing various 2 minute sketches. Scribbler is so addictive, and gives you a great style...
Here are some of my little scribbles, which you can find as prints and clothing on my RedBubble page.
My cat, Abbey posed for one of my sketches, while the others came straight from my head. I love being able to sketch freely - and as there is no 'undo' or 'eraser' on Scribbler, it keeps me away from temptation!

Snow Angels

As part of an online project, 31 girls in 31 days a group of 25 artists and illustrators from around the world each created their own special Christmas image.
The Assignment:
- To create 25 girls, one girl for each day leading up to Christmas.

This is my character creation, a snow angel. I have done two versions, one in Red and one in white... I wasn't sure which I liked best! The angel's flowing dress was inspired by traditional Celtic costume.
You can find the complete collection of girls here

And you can order cards, stickers, tshirts or prints of my Angel here

What's the Buzz?

This is one of my most recent illustrations. It is being used on the front cover of a new book and schooling program called 'What's the Buzz?'.

What’s the Buzz? is a unique 16 lesson social skills enrichment programme designed to explicitly teach children how to think and relate to others. It is a lively role-play and play-based programme that targets everyday themes; how to greet, make and keep friends, fit in, read one’s own emotions, read the feelings of others, deal with competition and cope with worry, frustration and disappointment more constructively. It is for children who struggle to make friends, to fit in socially and to smoothly navigate their social and emotional world. What’s the Buzz? has proven particularly helpful for children identified with Asperger syndrome, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, Language Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder and anxiety difficulties.

What’s the Buzz? has been developed by Madhavi Nawana Parker and Mark Le Messurier and the book has recently been released internationally by the Routledge Taylor and Francis Group
(www.routledge.com), UK.
